Here at Belldini, we believe that beauty cannot be defined by a number. No matter what size you are, we want you to own who you are and what makes you uniquely you.
It can be easy to get caught up in the unbelievably high beauty standards that are set today for women. All of the photo-shopped images (that have been styled, produced and proofed by a team, btw) of women in the media send a message of what we should strive to look like. But how boring and blasé it would be if we all looked the same? After all, variety is the spice of life!
Whether you’re a size 4 or a size 2x – most women hold themselves to an unrealistic standard of beauty. Not only are we told we need to have curves, but we need a perfect blow out, toned-arms, a Barbie-sized waist, stunning eyebrows, plump lips and a gorgeous manicure. By all means there’s nothing wrong with keeping on top of your grooming-game – especially if it makes you feel good. But what if we decide to spend as much time and effort on being kinder, stronger and fiercer, as we do into getting glam? What if being a well-balanced, kind person is the standard of beauty that we hold ourselves to?
It’s easy to think of your mother, sister, girlfriend etc. and rattle out a list of qualities that make them a total superstar, but can you do the same for yourself? It is a disservice to all of us if we don’t realize what incredible talents, gifts and attributes we have. It’s okay to own it! You’re a mother who works full time and makes it to soccer practice? That’s a woman who is committed and loyal to family and herself. How beautiful! You’re a woman who spends time with girlfriends, likes to travel and volunteer? That’s a woman who has an adventurous spirit and a giving heart. Can you say “gorgeous!”
Let’s decide to ditch the beauty standard and embrace who we are. Amy Schumer recently said, “I say if I’m beautiful. I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story – I will.” At any size, you can celebrate who you are – whether you have curves or not – and be a total gangster, because we are ALL total stunners.
